The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has requested official explanations from the Turkish side regarding the status of the visit of representatives of the Russian occupation administration in Yalta to Turkey.

"We have received information about the visit of representatives of the Russian occupation administration in Yalta to Turkey. ...the Russian occupiers took part in a meeting of the International Organization of United Cities and Local Authorities, and discussed the possibility of concluding an agreement on the establishment of sister city relations with the municipal district of Beylikdüzü of Istanbul. We perceive this situation with extreme seriousness," Nikolenko was quoted as saying in the Foreign Ministry's commentary on Wednesday.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has already requested official explanations from the Turkish side regarding the status of the visit of representatives of the Russian occupation administration," Nikolenko said.
According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, "in accordance with international law, the Crimean peninsula is a part of Ukraine's territory temporarily occupied by Russia. The UN General Assembly resolutions require any party to refrain from actions that may call into question the status of Crimea, in particular through contacts with the occupation administrations."
"We expect that the Turkish authorities, who support the territorial integrity of Ukraine, will respond appropriately to the Russian provocation and will not allow it to happen again in the future," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman emphasized.
