First of all, American arms manufacturers will benefit from military supplies to Ukraine. In this, the White House is trying to convince Republicans to support the new aid package. In recent days, the Biden administration has been distributing in Congress a map with a breakdown by state of $27 billion in the form of already allocated investments and expenditures for "munitions and tactical equipment purchases."
Pennsylvania received the most, $2.364 billion; at the same time, out of eight Republicans representing the state in Congress, three voted against the continuation of support for Ukraine, writes the Reuters agency, having read the document.
Out of 25 Texas Republicans, 18 did not support the allocation of new funds to Kyiv; however, companies operating in the state received $1.45 billion for the production of 155-millimeter shells and other types of weapons.
The government transferred $2.196 billion to Arizona businesses through state contracts, while three out of six Republican state representatives opposed aid to Ukraine.
Companies from Arkansas and Wisconsin also received more than $1 billion.
The remaining $18 billion is distributed among producers in 25 states.
Biden asked Congress for $106 billion for Ukraine, Israel, operations in the Asia-Pacific region, and for strengthening American borders. Kyiv has been assigned the largest amount – $61.4 billion, approximately half of which will go to replenish the stockpiles of weapons in the United States.
But so far, Congress, over the opposition of a group of Republicans in the House of Representatives, has approved budget funding without those costs.
Military aid to Kyiv meets US interests in the sphere of not only security, but also economy, Biden said on October 20, speaking on television with an address to the nation. Yes, Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems are manufactured in Arizona, and artillery shells are manufactured in 12 states, including Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas, the president said at the time: "Today, as during World War II, patriotic American workers are building the arsenal of democracy and freedom." .
