Moldova's gas dependence on Moscow is over. After Russia's invasion of Ukraine and increased energy blackmail against Moldova, Chisinau managed to become independent of Russian energy sources.
Source. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Moldova Victor Parlikov, reports Polska Agencja Prasowa.
However, according to him, Russian information attacks and hybrid warfare are still ongoing.
"For 30 years, we have been told that Moldova's prosperity depends primarily on gas prices. But thanks to the EU's support, over the past year we have managed to become independent of Russian gas supplies," the official emphasized.
Victor Parlikov summarized that Moldova has won the war for its energy security.
"Now we must win the fight for hearts and minds," the minister said.
As noted, Russia is using hybrid warfare to convince citizens that all the negative consequences of the energy crisis and rising prices are the result of the country's pro-European policy.
Background. In early October, it was reported that Moldova would no longer buy gas from Gazprom. The country managed to get gas from alternative sources in Europe.
