"Kyivstar does not confirm the SBU's statement that hackers had been in the operator's system for many months

No facts of leakage of personal data of subscribers were revealed during the investigation, the company assures

Kyivstar disagreed with the statement of the SBU representative that Russian hackers had penetrated the internal server system back in May 2023.

This was reported on Facebook by the spokeswoman for the Ukrainian mobile operator Iryna Lelichenko.

"The official investigation of the cyberattack on Kyivstar's network on December 12, 2023, is ongoing, and various versions are being considered and voiced, but until the official completion of the investigation, none of them can be considered final," she wrote.

According to her, no facts of leakage of personal data of subscribers were found during the investigation.

"The cyberattack on Kyivstar's network affected some of the technological systems responsible for communication, but thanks to the skilled work of the company's specialists and partners, they were restored within a few days," the company's representative wrote.

"Kyivstar's network is operating as usual and provides subscribers with all basic services. 99% of telecom equipment in the territory controlled by Ukraine is in working order," Lelichenko wrote.

"On December 12, Kyivstar suffered a massive cyberattack, which, according to the SBU, was organized by the Russian hacker group Sandworm.

However, the head of the SBU's cyber department, Ilya Vitiuk, said on Thursday that Russian hackers managed to penetrate Kyivstar's system long before the attack, in May 2023, and have had access to the operator's systems since then.

The company's representative said that Kyivstar had introduced additional cyber defense measures after the cyber attack, including enhanced access control and additional server and workstation monitoring systems.
