Cherkasy region hands over 54 generators to Kharkiv region

"Due to the shortage of electricity, Ukrenergo has been receiving emergency assistance from the power systems of European countries for the last day.

The head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Ihor Taburets, has announced the delivery of 54 generators and other equipment to Kharkiv Oblast, whose power system is suffering from constant Russian shelling.

"As promised, we have delivered a shipment of support to Kharkiv from our region. Everything that will increase their resilience. 54 generators of various capacities and four charging stations. We also sent power banks, fuel and construction film," he wrote on Facebook. "The situation there is extremely difficult. There is almost daily shelling of infrastructure. The enemy is trying to plunge the region into darkness. That is why the whole country has united to help the people of Kharkiv region. We never leave our own people in trouble."

Ukrenergo said on Monday morning that due to the shortage, it had been forced to call in emergency assistance from the power systems of European countries over the past 24 hours and asked all consumers to conserve electricity.

"Due to the damage caused by Russian missile strikes, power plants cannot generate enough electricity to cover the increase in consumption. We continue to restrict consumption of industrial consumers in Kryvyi Rih around the clock. In the morning, consumption restrictions are in place in Kharkiv region. About 224,000 household consumers are without power," the statement said.

Emergency electricity is being imported from Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Moldova.
