Belgium will allocate €9 million to restore Ukraine's damaged energy infrastructure. This was announced by the Minister for Cooperation and Development Caroline Hennesse, BBC reports, citing the Belgian broadcaster RTBF.
The new package will be allocated through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which was the first to supply Ukraine with new generators after the start of the war.
Since then, a system has been set up to quickly procure spare parts and supply new equipment to rebuild damaged infrastructure.
"Through the UN, Belgium will help rebuild the energy infrastructure in the Kharkiv area, which is now under daily shelling by the Russian army. Together with military support, this will help to strengthen Ukraine's resilience," the minister said.
Background. As a reminder, Belgium has launched an investigation into Russian interference in the upcoming European elections. The country's intelligence services have confirmed the existence of a Russian intelligence network that is trying to undermine support for Ukraine.
