Hungarian Foreign Minister blocks Council of Europe resolution to recognise only Zelensky's peace plan

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has vetoed a Council of Europe resolution recognising only the peace plan proposed by Ukraine. According to him, "peace plans of others" should be taken into account.

"Today, the Council of Europe wanted to adopt a resolution in which it wanted to recognise only and exclusively President Zelenskyy's peace plan as a 'peace formula' that should be considered and supported. This is unacceptable to us. Others have also developed peace plans that are no worse than the Ukrainian president's," the Hungarian diplomat said in a statement.

Szijjarto also noted that instead of "fantasies of nuclear war", "real peace talks" are finally needed, and stressed that they can only take place when "all the warring parties are sitting at the table".

"I asked to include other peace plans in the Council of Europe resolution. This was rejected by the majority. That's why I vetoed it, so that there would be no resolution," he said.
