Some western firms are selling their products on the Russian market despite the anti-Russian sanctions. Moreover, household appliances from Bosch, Delonghi and Philips, which were intended for the Ukrainian market, have started to be sold in Russia. The products with stickers, documentation and instructions in Ukrainian are available for sale on Ozon, Wildberries and Yandex Market, as well as in electronics retailers.
Source. This was reported by Kommersant on Wednesday, 29 May, citing interlocutors in the household appliances market and its own investigation.
In particular, the sale of products manufactured for Ukraine on Russian online platforms was reported by Dmitry Shashkin, CEO of the Russian manufacturer of household appliances Kuppersberg. According to him, these supplies ‘are massive, as some foreign brands have recommended that their Turkish, Polish and Baltic factories continue to supply to maintain their positions in the Russian market’.
In addition, Kommersant journalists found in stores one of the Bosch dishwashers with instructions in Ukrainian and stickers indicating Kyiv as the place of delivery.
At the same time, M.Video-Eldorado and Yandex Market said that the appliances sold were delivered in accordance with Russian law.
The former Russian branch of the German concern Bosch stated that the company has no data on the sale of equipment manufactured for the Ukrainian market in Russia.
In turn, Dmitry Khludnev, the head of Weissgauff, a household appliance company, also confirmed that foreign manufacturers' appliances intended for Ukraine are supplied to Russia, and that in addition to Bosch, Delonghi and Philips products are also supplied to Russia in this way.
Another Kommersant source from a Russian retailer said that such deliveries began in the second quarter of 2024 and are associated with a decline in consumer demand in Ukraine due to the effects of the Russian invasion.
Earlier it was reported that a number of well-known home appliance manufacturers – Electrolux, Tefal, Braun and Rowenta – have blocked supplies to Russia in accordance with international sanctions against Russia after its invasion of Ukraine.
