Docker Hub, a popular service among programmers, has been blocked from accessing Russians due to sanctions

The blocking affected entire companies that used this platform to store their software projects

The Docker Hub service has closed access for users from Russia, CNews reports.

The blocking affected not only private programmers but also entire companies that used this platform to store their software projects.

Now, when trying to access the Docker Hub website from Russia, users see only a lock screen with a message stating that Docker is an American company that obeys the decisions of the US authorities.

Thus, the blocking is a consequence of the company's compliance with the sanctions imposed on Russia after the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

According to the report, the restrictions apply only to programmers from Crimea, but the company's website is also unavailable in Russia: in Moscow, Voronezh, Volgograd, Irkutsk and other cities of the country, the publication notes.

Docker Hub is a cloud service provided by Docker, which is a repository for containerised images. It allows developers to store, distribute and manage their containerised applications in a centralised repository. Users can search and download public images created by the community or official images from developers, as well as upload and share their own images. The Docker Hub integrates with the Docker build system, simplifying the process of deploying and delivering applications to different environments.

This is not the first time that Russian programmers have faced difficulties due to sanctions. For example, 2 months after the start of the invasion, Google banned developers in Russia from downloading and updating paid Google Play apps.

Background. The day before, Kommersant reported that Bosch, Delonghi and Philips were selling equipment made in Ukraine in Russia.
