On June 28, the second educational event for teenagers took place in Stryi, organized as part of the Build Up initiative, which is part of the IT Kids charitable program by Favbet Foundation.
A total of 53 children participated in the event – including internally displaced persons, children from military families, orphans, as well as teenagers from small settlements and socially vulnerable backgrounds.
The event continued a series of activities initiated during the debut educational format "Ticket to IT," previously held in Kyiv. Both events aim to introduce young people to the digital industry and provide basic practical skills.
The program covered 12 technology specializations: from programming and UI/UX design to cybersecurity and robotics. The format was based on hands-on training in small groups and interaction with industry professionals. Some sessions were led by students from GoFriends IT Academy – teenagers who already had experience studying IT.
The Build Up program is part of the broader IT Kids direction, which since 2023 has been opening access to modern IT education for children from all over Ukraine.
The first major step was a partnership with the Code Club Ukraine network through the "New Python" course, which was completed by 352 children, including 156 from displaced and military families.
The next stage was a Scratch course, within which 780 children learned the basics of programming. In total, more than 1,100 participants have already taken part in the free IT Kids programs.
“We believe that access to quality education should not be limited by place of residence or social status. That is why all IT Kids programs are free of charge and involve children who, under other circumstances, might never have considered a career in IT. I am sincerely grateful to our partners from Code Club and GoFriends for their cooperation,” said Andrii Matiukha, President of Favbet Foundation.
All participants of the event received invitations to attend the free summer camp at GoFriends IT Academy. The program includes in-depth IT studies, team project creation, test sessions, and subsequent selection into the Academy’s training programs.
Andrii Matiukha confirmed that the foundation will continue to invest in the development of Ukrainian youth through tech education. Favbet Foundation has already implemented a number of projects in this direction – in particular, providing schools in affected regions with computer equipment.
