According to the Ministry, a russian helicopter violated the country's airspace along the eastern border between the towns of Kesälahti and Parikkala at around 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4. These cities are located approximately 20 kilometers from each other, and about 10 kilometers west of Finland's border with russia.

The helicopter flew 4-4.5 kilometers deep into Finland. The country's border service has opened a preliminary investigation into the incident.
