Wallace estimates Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine at 220 thousand people

Britain will soon give Ukraine its AS90 self-propelled artillery systems

Since the beginning of the invasion, Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine have increased to 220,000 people. This was stated by British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace at a press conference with his Swedish counterpart Paul Johnson. He clarified that this figure is based on US intelligence data.

Source. This was reported by Sky News journalist Deborah Gaines on Twitter.

It is clarified that this refers to the loss of lives and injuries.

Wallace noted that Russian troops are "hardly advancing" and "suffering huge losses," and also pointed to "deep systemic problems" in the Russian army.

Wallace promised that Britain would continue to provide military assistance to Kyiv. According to him, the first Challenger tanks have already arrived in Ukraine.

In addition, London and Stockholm signed an agreement to supply the British army with 14 Swedish-made Archer self-propelled artillery systems. This will allow the UK to support Ukraine by providing it with AS90 systems.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) noted that during the year of the invasion, the Russian army suffered more combat losses than in all wars since World War II combined: 200,000 to 250,000 people, including 60,000 to 70,000 killed.

According to him, the average monthly losses in Ukraine are at least 25 times higher than the number of people killed per month in Chechnya and 35 times higher than in Afghanistan.

A similar estimate was made by British intelligence. It noted that by February, the real losses of the Russian army in Ukraine had reached 175-200 thousand people, including 40-60 thousand killed.

Background. Earlier, The Times wrote that every 90 meters of Ukrainian land goes to Russia at the cost of about 2,000 military casualties.
