Details. Von der Layen mentioned banks among the key points of the new sanctions package. “We are looking further at the banking sector, especially Sberbank, which accounts for 37% of the russian banking sector,” she said.
In addition, new sanctions against russia could affect the energy sector.
According to her, the EU is working on “clever mechanisms” to include oil in the next sanctions.
“What should not happen is that putin collects even higher prices on other markets for supplies that would otherwise go to the EU,” she said.
President of the European Commission emphasized that the main priority was to reduce putin's income.
