“Now, taking into consideration the acute crisis, we are announcing an additional $215 million of new food assistance,” Blinken said.
At the same time, he said, Washington plans to continue to support countries that suffer from instability in food markets. “We expect Congress to approve more than $5.5 billion of additional funding for humanitarian aid and food security very soon,” Blinken said.
