moscow's reaction to a build up of NATO forces in Poland will be “proportional”, warned the russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Interfax.
The news agency quoted Oleg Tyapkin, the head of a Foreign Ministry Department in charge of russian relations with Europe, as saying,
“A response, as usual, will be proportionate and appropriate, intended to neutralise potential threats to the security of the russian federation.”
NATO is strengthening its forces in Poland, near the border with Ukraine, while the war in Ukraine continues.
In February, US President Joe Biden ordered an additional 3,000 US servicemen to be sent to Poland to strengthen NATO's presence in Eastern Europe.
In total, a month later, the United Kingdom announced that it was transferring a ground-based air defense system to Poland, along with 100 servicemen.
Defense Minister Ben Wallace announced the deployment of the Sky Saber missile system during his visit to Warsaw.
According to Downing Street, 100 British servicemen will be deployed on a short-term basis in Poland.
