The head of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine was elected chairman of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and the IMF for 2023

What happened? The Board of Governors of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund elected Serhiy Marchenko, Minister of Finance of Ukraine, as its chairman for 2023.

Details. “This decision was unanimously adopted by all governing member countries of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. This happened for the first time in 30 years of Ukraine's membership in the World Bank and the IMF,” the message reads.
According to him, “over this long time, Ukraine has formed reliable and transparent partnership relations.”
“It is a great honor to represent Ukraine in the international financial arena. The new status will increase the effectiveness of cooperation with international financial institutions and member countries of the World Bank and the IMF,” the head of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine emphasised.
