The queue of tankers to leave the Black Sea through the Turkish straits continues to grow

What happened? The number of tankers waiting to exit the Black Sea through the Turkish straits continues to grow. Turkey has proved a critical stumbling block to a complex international plan to deprive russia of oil revenues during the war.

Source. Reuters.

Details. Ankara refused to cancel the new insurance verification rule, which it introduced earlier this month, despite pressure from Western officials.

The G7 countries, the European Union, and Australia have agreed to ban transport service providers such as insurers from helping export russian oil unless it is sold at a forced low price or a restriction aimed at depriving moscow of wartime revenues.

Turkish maritime authorities have said they will continue to refuse to allow oil tankers that do not have the appropriate letters of insurance to enter their waters.
