What happened? Ukrenergo and the Energy Community Secretariat signed a memorandum of cooperation on compensation for damages caused to the Ukrainian power system by russia.

Details. “One of the most influential international energy organisations in Europe – the Energy Community, of which Ukraine has been a member since 2010, will help us to sue russia and demand compensation for the damage caused to Ukrenergo's trunk power grids. The relevant memorandum has been recently signed by Ukrenergo and the Energy Community Secretariat,” Ukrenergo reports.
It is noted that together with the Energy Community, the company seeks to achieve compensation for the damage caused by russia to the energy sector of Ukraine.
“From the first day of the full-scale invasion to the present day, all damages to networks and destroyed facilities have been recorded in detail in order to present a bill to the terrorist country. To do this, the Energy Community Secretariat will involve international and Ukrainian experts, conduct a thorough analysis, where Ukrenergo will be able to apply to compensate for the losses incurred due to the russian aggression,” the company assures.
There will also be developed an action plan for filing claims and identified key legal experts and companies that will support the consideration of claims against russia in national courts and international tribunals.
Moreover, a working group on legal claims, which will be created under the memorandum, will represent Ukrenergo in the Special International Tribunal against russia.
