NBU: consumer inflation accelerated to about 27.5% in December

What happened? Consumer inflation in December 2022 reached approximately 27.5%.

Source. The macroeconomic and monetary review of the NBU.

Details. "Consumer inflation has accelerated, further reflecting the consequences of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, including disruption of supply chains, destruction of production facilities, reduced supply of goods and services, increased business production costs, and electricity shortages," the report says.

The regulator published an inflation chart, without specifying the exact figure, which shows that the inflation rate in December-2022 reached approximately 27.5%.

"Inflation grew slower than the NBU predicted due to the expansion of food supply, de-occupation of the territories, weak consumer demand, strengthening of the hryvnia cash exchange rate and stabilisation of inflation expectations," the NBU explains.
