Deputy Defence Minister Shapovalov dismissed at his own request
The Ministry believes that this decision will help to maintain the trust of society and international partners

What happened? Deputy Defence Minister Viacheslav Shapovalov has been dismissed at his own request.
Details. It is noted that Mr. Shapovalov decided to resign of his own free will in order not to pose a threat to the stable supply of the Armed Forces as a result of a campaign of accusations related to the purchase of food.
Although the ministry does not consider the deputy guilty of the charges, Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov supported the decision to dismiss him. The minister believes that this will help maintain the trust of society and international partners.
The press service emphasises that during his tenure, Mr. Shapovalov helped implement a number of reforms:
- demonopolisation of the Armed Forces catering service – the market has become more transparent and resilient to stress;
- monopolies in the fuel and lubricants supply sector were eliminated;
- the military was fully provided with helmets and uniforms and a reserve was formed;
- establishment of an agency to meet logistical needs;
- intensification of work on streamlining the assets of the Ministry of Defence.
"The Ministry of Defence adheres to the principle of zero tolerance for corruption, respects democratic control, and will ensure absolute transparency for any inspections by authorized bodies," the statement says.
