British intelligence explains why Wagner group stopped recruiting prisoners in Russian colonies

In its daily report, British military intelligence draws attention to the statement of Putin's "chef" and founder of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, on February 9, that he had stopped recruiting prisoners for his mercenary company.

However, the key factor in stopping recruitment is likely to be the direct confrontation between the Wagner group and the Russian Ministry of Defense, according to British intelligence.
In addition, the Russian army has apparently already deployed a significant portion of the reservists mobilized in the fall. Now the Russian leadership faces a difficult choice: to continue to deplete its forces, reduce the scale of operations, or conduct further mobilization, British intelligence believes.
