Historian Timothy Snyder raises money for a "Shahed catcher" for Ukraine
Fundraising was held through the United24 system
A well-known American historian, an expert on the history of Ukraine and all of Eastern Europe, Timothy Snyder, has raised almost $1.3 million for a system that Ukrainians call a "chess catcher."

Details. Timothy Snyder raised $1,268,196 under his own name through United24, a fundraising system for the war. The goal was to raise $1,250,000.
"If you helped with this collection, you helped save lives. Thank you very much. History is being made all around us, and each of us has a role, big or small, that we can play," said Timothy Snyder.
"The Shaheed Catcher is a U.S. system of radars and autonomous drones that can block and intercept enemy drones.
Ukraine has recently received six such systems from the United States.
Background. Yale University history professor Timothy Snyder has joined the team of ambassadors for the United24 fundraising platform initiated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Timothy Snyder personally met with Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his visit to Kyiv in September. Recently, the famous historian posted his lecture course for Yale University, "The Making of Modern Ukraine," which has received almost 3 million views.
