Shmyhal warned that Russians are trying to deprive Ukrainians of access to water
To achieve this, they are releasing water from the Kakhovka Reservoir

The Russian occupiers are releasing water from the Kakhovka Reservoir and are thus trying to deprive Ukrainians who receive water from the Dnipro River of access to water supply, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

"The enemy does not stop. Now the Russians are trying to deprive Ukrainians of access to water supply. After the partial destruction and deliberate opening of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station gates by the Russians, we are losing thousands of cubic meters of water every day. As a result, 70% of the settlements that receive water from the Dnipro may be left without access to drinking water," the Prime Minister said.
In addition, Shmyhal said that the nuclear threat is even greater, as a decrease in the water level in the storage facility could lead to improper functioning of the cooling systems at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
"I don't think anyone needs to be told how this threatens Ukraine, Europe and the world as a whole. Therefore, the civilized world should not remain silent. Ukraine calls for all available means to put pressure on Russia to close the floodgates and restore the hydraulic structures at the Kakhovka HPP. Or let Ukrainian specialists do it," the Prime Minister said.
"I appeal to international partners and emphasize that otherwise we will face an environmental disaster that will have countless destructive consequences for the entire continent," Shmyhal emphasized.
Background. As reported, the Russians are dumping water into the Kakhovka reservoir – their actions are aimed at preventing the station from being immediately connected to the grid.
