US may send Iranian weapons to Ukraine - WSJ
Allies have pledged to send Ukraine "as much ammunition as possible as soon as possible"

Thousands of allegedly Iranian weapons and ammunition seized by the U.S. military may be sent to Ukraine.
Source. This is stated in the report of The Wall Street Journal.
Details. In particular, the newspaper writes, officials considered sending a cache of weapons that Iran once sent to militants in Yemen, but this shipment was intercepted and confiscated by the US military.
The stockpile includes more than 5,000 assault rifles, 1.6 million rounds of ammunition for small arms, and a small number of anti-tank missiles.
Earlier today, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that Ukraine has urgent needs for more military assistance.
He also reiterated that the United States and NATO allies are generally committed to supporting Ukraine in the long term.
"This shared resolve will support Ukraine's progress in the coming weeks," Austin said at the Ramstein meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels.
He also said that the allies would provide Ukraine with "as much ammunition as possible as quickly as possible."
Answering a question about the Russian offensive, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, says that "the front line is relatively stable."
"The most dynamic movement is observed in the area of Bakhmut. The Ukrainians are holding the line," he says.
He adds that there are "very heavy casualties, especially on the Russian side."
Background. General Milley said that almost a year after Moscow began its invasion of Ukraine, Russia "has lost strategically, operationally and tactically."
