The United States announced its intention to impose sanctions on Chinese companies that supply goods to Russia
Chinese companies will have to choose whether to do business with the US or Russia

Washington intends to impose sanctions on Chinese companies that supply banned goods to Russia. Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo said this during a briefing, Bloomberg reports.
"Officials will contact Chinese companies or financial institutions directly and explain to them that we are ready to impose sanctions if they provide material support to Russia," Adeyemo said.
He said that the US is contacting banks and companies to warn them of the risks of being cut off from the US financial systems and its financial partners.
"They [Chinese companies] can choose to do business with the United States and its allies, which together account for 50% of the world economy, or to deal with Russia, whose economy is becoming more and more isolated every day," Adeyemo said.
According to the official, the United States sees that the Kremlin has deepened its financial ties in some neighboring countries, as other markets have been closed to Moscow.
The United States is preparing new sanctions against Russia on the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine. According to the agency, Washington and its allies intend to cut Russia off from supplies from third countries.
The day before, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the United States suspected China of being ready to supply weapons to Russia. "Our concern is based on information that they are thinking about supplying lethal weapons. And we've made it very clear to them that this could be a serious problem for us and our relationship," he said.
