Zelenskiy says he will not negotiate with Putin: "He is not the same person"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says he does not see any possibility of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, even with the mediation of Turkish President Recep Erdogan.

"Erdogan knows my position. I don't accept it," Zelenskyy said at a press conference titled "February. The Year of Unbreakability" press conference on Friday.

The head of state said that he had appealed to Erdogan before the start of the full-scale war to "put the Russian president at the negotiating table."

"Put him at the negotiating table, we cannot allow the risks of a full-scale war. Erdogan was unable to do this then. And not only he, he is powerful. He (Erdogan) failed. And now he thinks he can. Now WE cannot. This is not the same person (Putin – ed.), there is no one to talk to," Zelensky summarized.

Other important points from the press conference of the President of Ukraine:

On preventing the weakening of support for Ukraine

"My task as president, the leader of the country, is not to make even the slightest suggestion of weakening support for Ukraine. I believe that the unity of the world is my main task. This is not our war, we are fighting for all of you.

It is not this war that has led to the crisis, it is the Russian Federation that is deliberately creating a crisis to weaken your support and blame Ukraine. My task is to do everything I can to ensure that the world's support for Ukraine does not weaken.

On China's peace plan

I believe that it respects territorial integrity. It doesn't say which country, but the territorial integrity of our country is violated. It talks about nuclear safety. I think this is very important. It coincides with the interests of the world and our country. There are some points that are clear to me. There are opinions with which I do not agree. I think the whole world disagrees. But, nevertheless, this is something. And I think it's right to think that if there are already opinions that somehow coincide with respect for international law and territorial integrity and some security things, I think we should use this, in a normal sense, and work with China on this point-why not?

On Chinese arms supplies to Russia

I want to believe that China will be on the side of a just peace, and that means on our side. I'll tell you honestly, and this is important to me: I really want to believe that China will not supply weapons to Russia. This is very important to me. Point number one.

We are doing everything possible to prevent the supply of Chinese weapons to the aggressor country. To be honest, this is a risk of World War III.

On an attack on another European country

Unfortunately, yes, I think it is possible. And it can happen. I can explain why. President Putin needs to show success and victories. There will be no success on the battlefield in Ukraine. There will be no massive revenge. At least we will fight. And if there are supplies (of weapons – ed.), we will be stronger.

On bringing Putin to justice for the murder of Ukrainians

The main thing is to bring justice to the end. You can't do that when you kill so many people, especially civilians. And it is impossible to end without an answer, as some political proposals say: let's find a way out of the situation. What does a way out mean? What happened when so many people were killed? This is the leader of the Russian Federation, the leader of a great country, and they must be held accountable.

Background. The day before, the Kremlin said that Ukrainian saboteurs were preparing an offensive in Transnistria, but Moldova denied it.
