State Property Fund intends to concentrate management of 100% of state-owned enterprises – Umerov
SPF plans to increase land bank for lease to 300,000 hectares by the end of 2023
The State Property Fund of Ukraine has managed to concentrate 70% of the 3,600 enterprises that remain under state control under its management, and by the end of the year the agency intends to transfere the remaining 30% under its control.
This was stated by Rustem Umerov, Head of the SPF during a panel of the Greek House Davos, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"There is an active discussion on the future of state assets – to sell them or to leave them in management. But despite the opinion that not everything should be privatised, at this stage it was decided that 95% of state-owned enterprises will be privatised or liquidated through bankruptcy proceedings after the relevant bills are passed," Mr. Umerov said.
According to him, the Fund has concentrated 200,000 hectares of agricultural land over the past six months and plans to increase its land bank to 300,000 hectares by the end of the year, which will allow the SPF to become one of the largest state landowners.
The land will be leased out through electronic auctions, the head of the agency said, outlining further plans for this land bank.
The head of the Fund reminded that three years ago, Ukraine launched a land reform, according to which the land market will be open to foreigners starting in 2024.
