Moldova will reconsider its position on sanctions against Russia and join most of them
The only exceptions are sanctions related to the country's energy security

The Moldovan authorities intend to revise the list of EU sanctions against Russia and join most of them, Foreign and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu said.

According to the minister, this will happen in the near future. He recalled that Moldova had not immediately joined certain restrictions, but now this decision will be reconsidered.
"Our degree of compliance with the sanctions will increase significantly," Popescu emphasized.
The minister noted that there are 38 sanctions regimes in the EU, and Moldova has already joined 21 of them.
In January, the country's Foreign Ministry said that it was taking a selective approach to Western sanctions against Russia, guided by energy security considerations.
Ministry spokesman Daniel Vode explained that Moldova fears the termination of Russian gas supplies. At the same time, he noted that "the country is 60-80% compliant with the declarations and restrictive measures of the EU's common foreign and security policy."
Moldova fully complies with Western sanctions against Russia in the banking sector and in the field of re-export of goods, and also supported declarations condemning aggression against Ukraine, said EU Ambassador Janis Mažeiks.
The rhetoric of the Moldovan authorities regarding Western sanctions changed after the country's leadership received information about a coup d'état planned by Russia. President of the Republic Maia Sandu announced the Kremlin's intention to send saboteurs into the country to try to attack government buildings and take hostages. According to her, everything will take place under the guise of protests, and opposition parties, including Shor, will be involved in the plot.
Recently, the Moldovan police restricted entry to the center of Chisinau and banned mass rallies ahead of the pro-Russian opposition rally.
