Ministry of Defence explains how satellite purchased with funds raised by Serhiy Prytula is used

Since 24 September last year, the ICEYE spacecraft, purchased for donations from Ukrainians, has been sending the Ukrainian intelligence service the necessary data from space every day. Thanks to the satellite, 7,321 pieces of military and special equipment of the russian army were detected.

Source. This is stated in the press release of the Ministry of Defence.

During the 5 months of using ICEYE, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine conducted space radar reconnaissance of almost 1,000 areas where russian army units were located in the temporarily occupied and other territories of interest to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the statement says.

During this time, the spacecraft's resource allowed to detect 360 tents in the locations of the russian occupation army, as well as 7,321 objects of enemy military and special equipment, including:

  • 45 aircraft;
  • 27 helicopters;
  • 6 Iskander air defence systems;
  • 36 S300 air defence systems;
  • 12 Pantsir-S1 air defence systems;
  • 11 radar stations;
  • 10 pontoon crossings.

Thanks to ICEYE's capabilities, a significant part of this list has been destroyed and is reflected in the daily reports of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Such eyes in orbit allow us to detect and burn camouflaged russian military equipment, weapons, and personnel around the clock and in any weather," the intelligence officers notes.
