Poland liquidates a network of russian spies who installed cameras on railways

Polish special services have neutralized a network of russian spies, the Internal Security Agency (ABW) reports.

Source. This was reported by Polish Radio with reference to RMF.

The portal wrote that the group was preparing for sabotage activities, including monitoring the railroad. A statement on this matter will be published on Thursday, said Deputy Minister-Coordinator of Special Services Stanislav Zharyn.

According to RMF FM, ABW officers detained six people in this case.

"In connection with the network's activities, a security alert has been put in place on railroad routes and national critical infrastructure," the portal reported.

According to the website, the detainees are foreigners from the eastern border of Poland. They were supposed to be working for russian special services.

"ABW employees detained them in connection with the discovery of hidden cameras on important highways and railway junctions that recorded movement on the tracks and transmitted images to the network," the report said.

RMF FM reported that it was mainly about sections of railroad tracks in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship in eastern Poland, for example, near the airport in Jasionka, which is the main transshipment point for Western weapons and ammunition for Ukraine.

"In connection with this action, the special services and police were put on high alert. As the RMF FM correspondent Krzysztof Zasada found out, special attention is paid to the protection of strategically important railways in Poland, and the protection of key critical infrastructure has been strengthened," the statement said.

Background. As a reminder, the SBU detained an FSB agent who was preparing terrorist attacks against Ukrainian pilots and special forces.

In January, spy Arthur Heller was arrested in Germany. This was preceded by numerous detentions of russian agents in the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Poland and Slovenia, as well as the mass expulsion of spies with diplomatic status at russian embassies. The interlocutors of the publication noted that the kremlin is now trying to compensate for these losses by relying more on cyber espionage and sending new agents to the West under the guise of refugees.
