President signs law on development of electric charging infrastructure and electric transport
The law provides for simplification of the procedure for placing electric charging stations and gradual phasing out of public transport with internal combustion engines

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed Bill No. 8172 on the development of electric transport and electric charging infrastructure.
The law simplifies land requirements for the placement of electric charging stations and the connection of car charging stations to the power grid (without paying for power when connected by the end of 2024).
The document allows for the installation of charging stations for condominiums within the available capacity, as well as preferential (no capacity fee) connection to the networks of NPC Ukrenergo for energy storage systems by the end of next year.
The law introduces restrictions on the purchase and operation of buses with internal combustion engines used as public transport. It is envisaged that on city bus routes in cities with a population of more than 250,000 people, the number of electric buses as a percentage of the bus fleet should be at least 25% by 1 January 2030 and at least 50% by 1 January 2033. By 2036, Ukraine must completely phase out the operation of buses with internal combustion engines. At the same time, local authorities will have the right to adjust the deadline for the introduction of these restrictions.
