In Russia, the father of a girl who drew an anti-war drawing was sentenced to 2 years in prison

A court in the Tula region of Russia has sentenced Alexei Moskalev, a single father who was persecuted after his daughter drew an anti-war drawing at school.

According to Mediazona, the man was found guilty of "discrediting" the Russian army and sentenced to two years in a general regime colony.

Moskalev himself was not present at the announcement of the verdict. According to the court's press secretary Olga Dyachuk, "tonight he escaped from house arrest".

Moskalev's lawyer, Vladimir Biliyenko, said that he had not seen his client since yesterday and did not know whether he had escaped, as he had only the statement of the court's press secretary.

"At the moment, to be honest, I am in shock," he said.

After the verdict was announced, judge announced a ruling according to which the convict's daughter Masha is transferred to the care of social services.

As reported by the opposition telegram channel Sota, on the day of the verdict, lawyer Biliyenko managed to talk to the staff of the shelter where Masha Moskaleva is being held, as well as to take away the drawings and a letter that the girl had prepared for her father. The lawyer was not allowed to see Masha.

On one of the drawings, the girl wrote: "Dad, you are my hero".

An investigation was launched against Moskalev after his 12-year-old daughter Masha drew a picture of Russian missiles falling on a Ukrainian mother and child.

The drawing included a Ukrainian flag with the inscription "Glory to Ukraine" and a Russian tricolor with the slogan "No to War."

The teacher took the drawing to the principal, who called the police.

Soon after, a report was drawn up against the 53-year-old Moskalev, who is raising his daughter alone, for "discrediting" the army. The reason was an anti-war comment on Odnoklassniki. Then the resident of Yefremov was fined 32 thousand rubles.

At the end of December, the Moskalovs' home was searched, the father was interrogated by the FSB and, according to him, beaten. A criminal case was opened for repeated "discrediting". The case involves his posts on Odnoklassniki about the murders of civilians in Bucha and other crimes committed by Russians in Ukraine.

On March 2, Moskalev was placed under house arrest, and his daughter Masha was taken to an orphanage. Since then, no one has been allowed to visit the girl and she has not been allowed to communicate with the outside world. The Commission for Minors appealed to the court to deprive Anton of his parental rights.
