This is the fastest process of joining NATO in the history of the military alliance

On Tuesday, April 4, Finland will become a full member of NATO, the Finnish President's Office announced on Twitter, yle.fi reports.
President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö will travel to Brussels tomorrow to take part in the official accession ceremony.
Before the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto will deposit the documents on Finland's accession to the alliance with the US government.
In addition to Niiniste and Haavisto, Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen will take part in a flag-raising ceremony at NATO headquarters in honor of Finland's accession to NATO.
This was confirmed by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference. He welcomed Finland as the 31st country in the alliance and emphasized that it was the fastest accession process in the history of the military alliance.
As Stoltenberg noted, Sweden will also become a member of the alliance in the future. At the same time, Finland's membership will also strengthen Sweden's security and bring it closer to the military alliance, he said.
"Sweden will not be left alone," Stoltenberg assured.
Background. Earlier, Stoltenberg said that Finland would officially join NATO "in the coming days." On Thursday, March 30, the Turkish parliament ratified Finland's application for NATO membership, which was the last obstacle.
