Emissions from large plants in Ukraine in 2022 were half the limit values – Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee
This refers to plants located in the territories controlled by Ukraine

In 2022, operators of TPPs, CHPs, and large boiler houses emitted 40.1 thousand tonnes of dust, 203.7 thousand tonnes of sulphur dioxide, and 34.5 thousand tonnes of nitrogen oxides.
This was announced by Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy.
He said that compared to the regulated maximum volumes for 2022, this is 47.1%, 43.3% and 56.1% less than the permitted volumes, respectively.
"This is a very important positive result on the way to achieving European emission standards in accordance with Directive 2010/75/EU on industrial emissions (an integrated approach to pollution prevention and control)," the MP said.
The National Emission Reduction Plan for Large Combustion Plants (NERP) was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on 8 November 2017. The National Plan, in particular, defines the intentions of Ukraine as a member of the Energy Community to significantly reduce emissions of sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and dust from thermal power plants (TPPs) and combined heat and power plants (CHPs) in Ukraine with a capacity of 50 MW or more.
Previously. Mind reported that, according to the Ministry of Energy, Ukraine needed more than €4 billion to modernise its thermal power plants.
