A delegation of French military officials arrived in Kyiv. The delegation was headed by the Director General of the Integrated Structure for Supporting the Combat Capability of Ground Equipment, Lieutenant General Richard Onet.
The Ukrainian side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Mykola Shevtsov.
During the meeting, the parties discussed areas of cooperation in the defense sector.
The French side, in particular, was interested in organizing of logistical support for the army in conditions of high-intensity combat operations, as well as the experience of using French equipment and weapons transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, the guests were interested in the advantages of one or another type of weapon in conditions of modern warfare.
During the discussion, Lieutenant General Mykola Shevtsov thanked the government and people of France for their unwavering support for Ukraine in its struggle for sovereignty and territorial integrity and for the logistical assistance provided.
He noted that French military equipment was mainly used for the formation of new combat brigades and had proven itself well on the battlefield.
The parties also discussed the change in priorities in armaments in modern warfare: along with missile weapons and armored vehicles, there is special need for various types of UAVs, electronic warfare equipment, as well as light vehicles, in particular pickup trucks, ATVs, motorcycles and other atypical EW equipment used in military operations.
The Ukrainians also separately emphasized the continuation of the provision of French air defense systems transferred to Ukraine.
They stressed the importance of France's support and maintenance for the air defense systems it provided. The SAMP/T, Crotale NG and Mistral anti-aircraft missile systems demonstrated high efficiency in repelling recent massive enemy air attacks, Shevtsov emphasized.
The parties agreed to continue contacts and exchange of experience.
