Energoatom to take half of NPP units out of service in summer
The most difficult period is over, but the units need to be restarted, says Kotin

NNEGC Energoatom plans to shut down half of its nuclear power units for more than two months in the summer.
This was announced by Petro Kotin, Head of NNEGC Energoatom, in a comment to Ukrinform.
"The most difficult period has passed, all power units were in operation, but the units need to be restarted. Therefore, the best period when this can be done with the lowest cost and impact on the power system in terms of electricity shortages is summer," Mr. Kotin said.
He explained that there was no high electricity consumption since there was no need to switch on the heating. According to Mr. Kotin, the power units will be repaired in the summer so that half of the units are operational and the other half are under repair.
The normal repair period for a power unit is about 50-60 days, depending on additional work. But, for instance, now we need to carry out modernisation, which takes much more time.
Previously. Ukrenergo specialists have restored power supply to Zaporizhzhia NPP, which was interrupted by missile strikes on 9 March.
