Bulgaria denies helping the Ukrainian army

Bulgarian authorities have responded to Russian accusations that Bulgaria is allegedly repairing helicopters for the Ukrainian army.
The Russian and Bulgarian press published a note sent by the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation to the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense, Polish Radio reports.
The note, among other things, states that it is categorically unacceptable for Russia to repair and modernize Mi helicopters at the Bulgarian Terem plant with their subsequent transfer to Ukraine.
According to Russia, this is a violation of international obligations and is illegal.
The Bulgarian Defense Ministry said that since January last year, Bulgarian factories have not repaired or modernized Mi helicopters for the Ukrainian army.
The issue of military assistance to Ukrainians is a complicated topic in Bulgaria. A large part of society is against it. The state has already sent an aid package to Ukraine, but it was done with the consent of the parliament.
What was sent to Ukraine is also not disclosed in detail.
Background. Meanwhile, according to a journalistic investigation, Bulgarian weapons worth billions of dollars have entered Ukraine through other countries over the past two years. In 2022 alone, Bulgaria indirectly exported at least $1 billion worth of weapons to Ukraine.
