Twitter lifts restrictions on accounts of the Russian Foreign Ministry and Russian state propaganda
At the same time, the social network hides posts about Ukraine

Twitter has lifted restrictions on Russian government accounts after the social network was acquired by billionaire Elon Musk.
Source. This was reported by The Telegraph.
In April last year, a few weeks after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Twitter announced that Russian government accounts would not be recommended in search, on the homepage, and in other parts of the social network. This included accounts affiliated with the Russian government.
However, these restrictions have now been lifted. Users can now see the accounts of the Russian President, the Russian Foreign Ministry, and the Russian Embassy in the UK in the recommendations.
In addition, tweets from Russian government accounts have appeared in the algorithmically controlled Twitter feed for a newly created account.
A former Twitter executive confirmed to The Telegraph that this could only have happened because of the cancellation of last year's events.
"It is highly unlikely that this change would have happened by accident or without the knowledge of the company's management," he said.
Last week it became known that Twitter had lifted restrictions on Russian state propaganda accounts. Users will again be able to see Russia Today publications among the recommended tweets.
Elon Musk bought Twitter on October 27, closing a $44 billion deal. He then dissolved the board of directors, fired top managers, and became the sole chairman of the company.
Background. As a reminder, a study of Twitter's source code, which Musk published the day before, showed that the social network underestimates the rating of publications about the war in Ukraine. This means that they are less likely to appear in users' feeds.
