"We have no further information on the authenticity of the video. However, if it is confirmed, it will be another brutal reminder of the inhumane nature of russian aggression," said Nabila Massrali, a spokeswoman for the European Union.
The shocking video, which spread on social media the day before, has already provoked a sharp reaction from Kyiv: President Volodymyr Zelensky said that every world leader should respond to this atrocity, and SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk promised to "get these inhumans out of the ground."
The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine said it was "appalled by the particularly horrific videos posted on social media."
Over the past day, two shocking videos of beheaded Ukrainian soldiers have appeared on the Internet.
The brutal killings were allegedly committed by the russian military. One video shows a scene of a beheading, while the other shows the decapitated and mutilated bodies of two Ukrainian soldiers lying on the ground.
The UN mission stated that these massacres are not isolated incidents: the organization has previously recorded gross violations of international humanitarian law, including against prisoners of war.
"The latest incidents must also be properly investigated, and the perpetrators must be brought to justice," the statement said.
The kremlin also spoke about the beheading video, calling it "horrific."
At the same time, a kremlin spokesman said that before drawing any conclusions, it is necessary to establish the authenticity of the video, because, in his words, "we live in a world of fakes." After that, he did not rule out the possibility of conducting an investigation into this fact.
