The Main Centre for Special Control of the State Space Agency clarifies that at the time of the outbreak of an unknown object in Kyiv, a "high-energy acoustic event" with an epicentre in the Kyiv Oblast was recorded. Researchers suggest that the flares are associated with the entry of a space body into the dense layers of the atmosphere.

The Kyiv City Military Administration explains that the information about the possible use of enemy aircraft or an air strike with missile weapons during the air alert on 19 April was not confirmed.

Instead, according to the administration, the preliminary information about the possible fall of the US satellite was disseminated to reassure Kyiv residents. Experts are to find out what exactly the residents of the capital saw.

"It was not a missile attack, our air defence did not use available weapons," explains Serhiy Popko, Head of the KCMA.
