Kyiv City Council terminates land lease agreement under the Russian Embassy
The City Council also asked the Cabinet of Ministers to return the embassy property to state ownership

The Kyiv City Council has terminated the land lease agreement with the Russian Embassy. This decision was supported by 73 deputies of the Kyiv City Council.
The City Council also asked the Ukrainian government to return the property of the Russian diplomatic mission to state ownership.
Russia has leased 0.39 hectares of land at 27 Povitroflotskyi Avenue in the Solomianskyi district of the capital, where the embassy building is located.
The Russian Embassy in Kyiv was opened in August 1992.
On February 24, 2022, immediately after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Kyiv announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Russia.
The day before, all Russian diplomatic missions in Ukraine began evacuating their staff.
The Russian Embassy in Kyiv is currently closed.
