The G7 countries have called for the extension, full implementation, and expansion of the critical agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea.

This is stated in the communique of the group's agriculture ministers, Reuters reports.

The G7 countries issued this communique amid news that the grain deal is under threat due to russia, which is sabotaging it.

In the communique, agreed after a two-day meeting in the Japanese city of Miyazaki, the G7 agriculture ministers "recognised the importance" of the deal, saying: "We strongly support the continuation, full implementation and expansion of the BSGI (Black Sea Grain Initiative)."

"We condemn russia’s attempts to use food as a means of destabilisation and as a tool of geopolitical coercion and reiterate our commitment to acting in solidarity and supporting those most affected by russia’s weaponisation of food," the communique says.

The document also states that G7 members are "ready" to support Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction, including by providing expert assistance in de-mining agricultural land and reconstructing agricultural infrastructure.
