Germany's Rheinmetall receives an order worth 200 million euros for the production of ammunition
In addition, EU countries agree to place a ˆ1 billion order for artillery ammunition for Ukraine

The German company Rheinmetall has received a large order for the production of shells.
This is stated in the message of Rheinmetall.
Rheinmetall has booked an important order for ammunition for infantry fighting vehicles. The Group supplies medium-caliber ammunition to a European country, with an order value exceeding €200 million. The contract is to be implemented in 2023-2025.
The shells will be manufactured for an unnamed European country.
"Rheinmetall is the sole supplier of new 20-35 mm ammunition for the Marder, Gepard, Puma and similar medium-caliber automatic and anti-aircraft guns. It produces 105 mm ammunition for the Leopard 1 and 120 mm ammunition for the Leopard 2. It also supplies 155 mm artillery shells. In addition, the company has the ability to make large-scale deliveries in a short time," the statement said.
It was also noted that Rheinmetall is currently building an additional line for the production of medium-caliber ammunition at its plant in Unterluss, Lower Saxony. This will help meet the increased demand for air defense ammunition starting this summer.
Rheinmetall will, among other things, produce 300,000 Gepard ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is used by Ukraine.
It is planned to supply 150,000 armor-piercing sub-caliber APDS-T and HEI-T high-explosive fragmentation shells.
It should be added that this German company is the manufacturer of Panzerhaubitze 2000 (PzH 2000), which is used by Ukrainian soldiers at the front.
The first APDS-T shells are to be delivered in the summer of 2023. The transition of production from APDS-T to HEI-T is scheduled for mid-2024.
In addition, EU member states are currently negotiating a €1 billion order for the production of artillery ammunition for Ukraine.
