Polish Prosecutor's Office seized money from the accounts of the Russian Embassy
It was "significant funds" in US dollars and Polish zlotys

Polish prosecutors have seized money from the accounts of the Russian embassy and trade mission, the head of the Russian so-called diplomatic mission, Sergei Andreev, said.
"We received a message that the funds from the accounts of the embassy and trade mission in Santander bank were transferred to the accounts of the prosecutor's office," he told rosmedia.
After that, Santander announced the termination of cooperation with the embassy and closed the accounts, Andreev added, specifying that it was "significant funds" in US dollars and Polish zlotys.
The accounts were frozen after Russia's invasion of Ukraine under the pretext that they could be used for money laundering or terrorist financing.
According to the Rzeczpospolita newspaper, the accounts were worth $912,000 and 800,000 zlotys (about $180,000). At the same time, 45 Russian diplomats were expelled from Poland on charges of espionage.
In April, Polish bailiffs occupied a 100-apartment residential complex in Warsaw that had previously been used by the Russian embassy.
In December, the Polish Foreign Ministry expelled employees who graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). The head of the ministry, Zbigniew Rau, explained that the decision was made as part of "decommunization."
"MGIMO was an 'instrument of Russian imperialism' and 'Soviet soft power'. We have managed to close a very important process," the minister said, noting that this eliminated the loophole left by the lustration laws. Rau did not specify how many Russian so-called diplomats lost their jobs.
Background. As reported, Sweden is expelling five Russian diplomats, while Russia promises a mirror response.
