Unified Register of Missing Persons launched in Ukraine
A total of 23,000 Ukrainians are officially considered missing as a result of hostilities
The Unified Register of Missing Persons has been launched in Ukraine.
Source. This was reported by the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.
The register will contain data on missing persons: their full name, place and date of birth, marital status, place of residence, territory where the disappearance occurred, circumstances and time of disappearance, and external signs.
The register will also include information on the presence or absence of a court decision declaring the person missing or dead.
A month after the relevant information is entered into the register, relatives will be able to receive an extract confirming the status of the missing person.
Based on the extract, people will be able to apply to the Pension Fund to receive a survivor's pension for disabled family members.
In April, Ukrainian Commissioner for Missing Persons Oleh Kotenko said that about 7,000 Ukrainian servicemen were listed as missing. According to Kotenko, 60-65% of the missing are usually captured, while the rest are killed.
In total, about 23,000 Ukrainians are officially considered missing as a result of the hostilities.
