The Ukrainian manufacturers continue to supply more than 60% of the country's demand for medicinal products, according to the results of the first quarter analysis
This is evidenced by a quarterly analysis conducted by Proxima Research

According to the analysis of quarterly indicators conducted by Proxima Research, Ukrainian manufacturers continue to provide over 60% of the country's demand for medicines. In the first quarter of 2023, sales of drugs in Ukraine reached 217 million packages and almost 32 billion hryvnias. Despite a quarter-on-quarter drop in sales of pill packets due to the war, Ukrainian manufacturers continue to provide 63% of the country's demand for medicines.
One of the leading pharmaceutical companies in Ukraine, Darnytsia, produced almost 36 million packages of drugs in the first three months of this year. The company's share of the market in natural terms exceeded 12.6% and is twice as large as its closest competitor, Farmak, while its share in monetary terms reached 4.5%.
Analysts note that the Ukrainian pharmaceutical industry demonstrated greater resilience to inflation and faster rates of its reduction in January-March this year. Inflation for medicines and other medical products decreased by 8%, and the impact of price increases on market indicators decreased by half.
In addition, despite military threats, drug manufacturers continued to invest in the modernization of production and the introduction of new technologies at the beginning of the year. For instance, Darnytsia reported the commissioning of a new section for the preparation and packaging of solid dosage forms in sachets in accordance with the GMP standard.
"The pharmaceutical industry was and remains strategically important for the Ukrainian economy, which is currently being tested for strength by full-scale war with russia. The stability we have maintained ensures that Ukrainians will be provided with affordable and quality medicines, and the market – with jobs and investment opportunities," said Vasyl Hubarets, Director of Corporate Communications at Darnytsia.
It is worth noting that Darnytsia received a European food safety certificate, which was added to the Register of Certification Bodies of Management Systems Eurostandardcertification on 27 April 2023.
