The number of jobs in the world will decrease by 14 million, or 2%, over the next five years.

Source. This is stated in the report of the World Economic Forum (WEF) The Future of Jobs 2023.

In the period up to 2027, 69 million jobs will be created, but 83 million people will lose their jobs, experts predict.

The layoffs will primarily affect cashiers, including ticket and bank cashiers, as well as postal and accounting workers, secretaries and other clerks. In addition, the top 10 professions whose number of representatives will be reduced include legislators and officials.

Meanwhile, the fastest growth will be in the demand for specialists in artificial intelligence, machine learning, ecology, business analytics, and information security.

The labor market is affected by geopolitical and economic factors, the report says. The staff shortage is observed mainly in countries with high per capita incomes, while in low-income and low-income countries, the unemployment rate exceeds pre-crisis levels.

In addition, the normal state of affairs in the labor market over the next decade will be disrupted by the transition to a green economy, but it will also create significant opportunities for workers.

The WEF report is based on a survey of 803 companies from 27 industry clusters and 45 economies. These companies employ more than 11.3 million people.
