russian House in Denmark turned out to be a cover for russian spies - Information
russia is particularly interested in research in the field of renewable energy sources, which are an alternative and therefore a threat to russian oil and gas

The russian House in Denmark, which is positioned as a center of science and culture, has served as a cover for russian intelligence for many years. After studying photo and video materials from events held there, journalists identified some of the spies previously expelled from the country who called themselves diplomats.
According to the newspaper, the head of the russian House in Denmark, Artem Markaryan, paid special attention to ties with the Danish Technical University (DTU) and organized conferences and other events with the participation of representatives of this university and russian scientists several times.
In addition, the journalists identified a person who in 2019 was in charge of educational and research projects at the russian House and found out that the same person worked at DTU.
Alexei Nikiforov, a russian who was found guilty of espionage by a Danish court in May 2021 and ordered to be expelled from the country, was a graduate student at the same university.
It is noted that russia's interest in DTU is in line with the estimates of the Danish Police Intelligence Agency (PET). The agency's report, released in January 2022, stated that Denmark's leading positions in energy and biotechnology make the country an "attractive target" for espionage.
A PET representative explained to Information that russia is particularly interested in research in clean technologies and renewable energy sources, which are an alternative and therefore a threat to russian oil and gas.
russian intelligence is also interested in the island of Greenland, which belongs to Denmark and is home to the US military base Thule.
Background. As reported, in Helsinki, the authorities arrested the property and land of the russian Centre for Science and Culture.
