Lifecell subscribers in Bulgaria, Austria, Finland, and the Dominican Republic gain access to 5G connectivity
The list of countries where Lifecell subscribers will have access to the new standard of connectivity is continually expanding
Lifecell in Bulgaria, Austria, Finland, and the Dominican Republic has provided subscribers with the opportunity to use 5G connectivity, if their smartphone supports this standard.
This was announced by the operator's press service.
The list of countries where Lifecell subscribers will have access to the new standard of connectivity will continually expand. The fifth generation of mobile networks provides high-speed data transfer without delays, high channel capacity, and the possibility of developing modern technologies: telemedicine, internet of senses, tactile internet, safe autonomous transport, and so on.
Background. Regarding the development of 5G in Ukraine, as early as 2019, Lifecell and Ericsson Ukraine deployed a demo segment of the fifth-generation network and successfully tested the speed, during which a peak data download capacity of 25.6 Gbit/s in the ultra-high frequency range of 28 GHz was achieved.
In 2020, the operator deployed a test segment of 5G at the central office in Kyiv to explore the capabilities of the technology. After Ukraine's victory and the restoration of connectivity in the de-occupied territories, the operator will return to further planning for development and implementation of modern technologies.
