kremlin bans russian officials from resigning during war, threatens criminal charges
After the russian invasion of Ukraine began, many officials wanted to leave their posts

russia has banned high-ranking officials from resigning during a full-scale war.
Source. Vazhnye Istorii (Important Stories) writes about this citing four sources: a former FSB officer who works with one of the russian governors, a political technologist, and two people close to senior officials from the Presidential Administration (PA).
The FSB source said he was aware of at least two such cases. According to him, in both cases, it was governors.
The former security official also claims that they "were not just forbidden to resign, but were hinted at criminal cases."
One of the two interlocutors close to the kremlin said that after the outbreak of a full-scale war, many officials really wanted to leave their posts.
According to him, the kremlin views such intentions as treason. Because of this, officials were tasked with "demonstrating unity."
At the same time, the newspaper's sources emphasize that the ban on dismissal is unofficial and illegal. For this reason, some officials are allowed to leave their posts as an exception, for example, for health reasons or due to corruption.
Background. As a reminder, the SBU recently reported that 59 members of the russian State Duma face life imprisonment.
